Coalition members holding separate talks should quit, says Hamzah

Hamzah Zainudin, president of Perikatan Nasional, has called on any coalition members pursuing separate political discussions to exit the alliance, underscoring the importance of collective unity in the political grouping.

The statement, which appeared to target his former party Bersatu, stressed that members of a political coalition must operate as a cohesive team rather than pursuing individual agendas.

"If components within the coalition intend to hold their own talks and negotiations, they should leave Perikatan Nasional," Hamzah said, highlighting the challenges of maintaining coalition discipline when members engage in parallel political discussions.

The remarks underscore ongoing tensions within the coalition regarding the autonomy of member parties and their commitment to collective decision-making structures. Coalition partnerships in Malaysia have historically faced strains when individual components pursue separate negotiations with other political actors.

Hamzah's comments reflect efforts by Perikatan Nasional leadership to establish clearer boundaries on member party conduct and ensure alignment with coalition objectives.
