CALAPAN CITY, Oriental Mindoro — The Philippine Coast Guard successfully rescued 34 persons after their motorized banca encountered engine failure in waters off Taytay, Palawan on Monday.

The vessel, identified as MBCA Kin J-Mar, was en route to Barangay Casian in Taytay when mechanical problems left it adrift in Taytay Bay. Coast Guard personnel responded to the distress call and safely evacuated all passengers from the disabled craft.

According to the Coast Guard District Calapan, the passengers were traveling as a group to visit the graves of departed family members during the observance period. All individuals were accounted for and no injuries were reported during the rescue operation.
