SAN FRANCISCO, Agusan del Sur — The Philippine Coast Guard successfully rescued four individuals stranded on an island off Bislig City on Thursday, the agency reported Saturday.
The group, comprising a boat operator and three passengers, became stranded after deteriorating sea conditions forced them to abandon their voyage Wednesday. The Coast Guard Sub-Station Bislig responded to the emergency and completed the rescue operation the following day.
The incident underscores ongoing maritime safety concerns in the region, where seasonal weather patterns frequently create hazardous conditions for small vessels and inter-island transport. The Coast Guard continues to monitor sea conditions and reminds boat operators to check weather forecasts and heed warnings before embarking on voyages.
No injuries were reported among the rescued individuals. The Coast Guard did not immediately provide additional details regarding the circumstances of the stranding or the destination of the vessel.
