The Philippine Coast Guard and fishing regulatory officials seized approximately 100 kilograms of sliced shark meat on Monday at Veteran's Wharf in Aparri, a port town in Cagayan province. The contraband was discovered inside a cooler at the facility during an intelligence-led operation by enforcement units.
The shark meat had been en route from Sitio La Union in Barangay Macanaya when authorities intercepted the shipment. Details regarding the intended destination and transport operators were not immediately disclosed.
The confiscated product was subsequently buried, according to standard protocols for seized wildlife materials. The action reflects ongoing efforts by maritime and fisheries authorities to combat illegal wildlife trade and enforce regulations protecting endangered marine species in Philippine waters.
