Coastal Railway Line crossing closed for maintenance work
Sri Lanka Railways has announced a complete closure of a railway level crossing on the Coastal Railway Line for essential repair work. The crossing will remain shut for approximately 30 hours from Thursday morning through Friday afternoon.

The Railway Department has issued notice of a full closure affecting the level crossing on Justin Akbar Mawatha in the lower section of the Coastal Railway Line, located within the Kompannavidiya Police Division.
The closure will commence at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday (12th) and continue until 3:00 p.m. on Friday, Sri Lanka Railways confirmed. The extended timeframe is required to complete necessary repair and maintenance work at the crossing.
During the closure period, motorists and pedestrians will be unable to use the crossing and are advised to utilize alternative routes. Sri Lanka Railways said the work is essential to maintain safety standards and ensure the proper functioning of the crossing infrastructure.
The public is urged to plan their journeys accordingly and allow additional travel time to reach their destinations. Further updates regarding the completion of work will be provided by the Railway Department as needed.
