The Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) announced Monday that it would organize a major protest across Rajasthan against what it characterized as unlawful detention and harassment by state police. Party spokesperson Deepak Baliyan made the announcement at a press conference in Jaipur, alleging that police had systematically prevented party workers from participating in protests in Delhi while also intimidating their families.
Baliyan claimed he was placed under house arrest for four consecutive days in the Kathumar area of Alwar district, with personnel from four separate police stations stationed outside his residence. Party member Gigraj Jorli alleged that police detained him inside his vehicle on October 10 while he was traveling to Delhi to participate in a demonstration. Jorli further stated that his associate Surendra was subjected to what he described as illegal detention.
Another CJP member, Shashikant, alleged that on October 8, he and his associate Suraj Meena were detained and physically assaulted at Jaipur's Gandhi Nagar Police Station. The party has not specified the exact date for the planned protest but indicated the action would commence within the next ten days. The allegations highlight ongoing tensions between activist organizations and Rajasthan's law enforcement agencies regarding protest activities and the treatment of political workers.
