Coconut Palace to welcome public visitors in 2027 after major renovation

MANILA — The Coconut Palace, one of the Philippines' most distinctive architectural landmarks, will resume public access in 2027 after completing a six-month renovation programme, according to the Government Service Insurance System, the state agency overseeing the facility.
Media representatives were granted a tour of the Pasay City palace on Tuesday to inspect the ongoing restoration work. The reopening timeline follows the conclusion of the 49th Association of Southeast Asian Nations Leaders Summit, scheduled for November this year.
The GSIS, which manages the palace as a state property, has overseen the comprehensive renovation project aimed at restoring and modernising the venue while preserving its historical and cultural significance. The palace, renowned for its distinctive coconut-shell architecture and design elements, has long served as an important venue for state functions and diplomatic gatherings.
The 2027 reopening will mark a significant milestone for the facility, allowing Filipino citizens and international visitors to experience the unique architectural monument that has become emblematic of Philippine design innovation.
