The suspects blindfolded the victim, identified as Kapurchand Gupta, and threatened him with a knife to extract details of his mobile phone and UPI account. Under duress, the professor was forced to authorize a fund transfer of nearly one lakh rupees to a QR code linked to a woman's account. Police launched a search operation after family members reported the abduction. Authorities located the professor within 24 hours and confirmed he was safe and unharmed. The incident has prompted heightened concerns about street safety in the region, with police intensifying patrols in evening hours. Investigation into the case is ongoing as authorities work to apprehend all suspects involved in the abduction and extortion.
