Congress chief Kharge convenes opposition MPs for lunch meet in Delhi

Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge has invited opposition Members of Parliament to a lunch meeting scheduled for 1:45 p.m. at Moets restaurant in Connaught Place, New Delhi. The lunch gathering represents renewed efforts by the opposition to coordinate activities following recent developments in Parliament and electoral processes.

This marks the second consecutive day that opposition MPs have been convened for lunch at the Connaught Place venue. A similar meeting was held on October 7, following which several opposition MPs, including Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi, proceeded to Jantar Mantar to stage a demonstration against the Election Commission.

The protest on October 7 drew police intervention, with participating MPs detained for approximately two hours before being released. The repeated coordination meetings suggest the opposition is seeking to maintain unity on key political and electoral issues ahead of potential parliamentary proceedings.

Opposition parties have intensified coordination efforts in recent weeks as they navigate concerns related to electoral management and parliamentary functioning. The lunch meetings provide informal settings for opposition leaders to discuss strategy and align positions on matters of mutual concern.
