Congress leader Rahul Gandhi hosted a Diwali reception at his New Delhi residence, bringing together senior party figures and former state administrators for informal discussions and seasonal greetings. Among those attending were former chief ministers from five states, including Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, Sachin Pilot, Ashok Gehlot, and Bhupesh Baghel, according to party sources.
The gathering was officially characterised as a pre-Diwali social function aimed at fostering camaraderie among Congress leadership. However, sources close to the party indicated that substantive political discussions also took place during the meeting, suggesting it served a dual purpose beyond festive pleasantries.
According to insiders, party strategists used the occasion to discuss electoral tactics and forthcoming campaign priorities. Among key topics were issues relating to electoral integrity and the party's broader political roadmap in the lead-up to key contests, sources said.
The meeting reflected ongoing efforts within the Congress to consolidate its leadership structure and coordinate messaging among senior state-level figures. Such informal gatherings have become part of the party's approach to maintaining internal cohesion during a challenging political period.
