Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi brought together a cross-section of senior party leaders at his New Delhi home for an informal Diwali celebration on Thursday. The gathering included Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, Sachin Pilot, Ashok Gehlot, Bhupesh Baghel and other prominent Congress figures from multiple states.
The Congress characterised the meeting as a seasonal social occasion bringing together party veterans for festive greetings and informal interaction. Senior leaders described it as part of regular party coordination ahead of the festival season.
However, party sources indicated that beyond the ceremonial aspect, discussions centred on substantive political matters. The agenda reportedly included deliberations on the party's campaign strategy moving forward, with particular focus on addressing electoral irregularities, sources said.
The meeting reflects ongoing efforts by the Congress leadership to strengthen coordination among state-level party units and senior functionaries. Such gatherings have become routine forums for the party to align on political messaging and organisational priorities.
