Congress MLAs boycott Rajasthan Assembly monsoon session opening day

Congress members of the Rajasthan Legislative Assembly boycotted proceedings on the opening day of the monsoon session, mounting a demonstration outside the Assembly complex in Jaipur. The legislators staged a dharna to voice their opposition to recently implemented school entry restrictions and to press demands for Education Minister Madan Dilawar's removal from office.

The Congress party has accused the state government of imposing arbitrary restrictions on school access that they contend are adversely affecting students and educational institutions. The party views the restrictions as counterproductive and called for a comprehensive review of the policies.

The boycott marked a show of strength by the opposition, which sought to escalate pressure on the government through their absence from the chamber. By staging the dharna outside the Assembly, Congress MLAs aimed to draw public attention to their grievances while signaling their unwillingness to participate in legislative business until their concerns were addressed.

The monsoon session, which commenced with the Congress protest, is expected to see continued friction between the ruling government and the opposition over the education policy matter. Whether the government will respond to the demands for the minister's resignation remains unclear at this stage.
