Congress signals willingness to adjust flood control budget for 2027

Congress is prepared to modify funding levels for flood control initiatives included in the 2027 National Expenditure Program if deemed necessary following proper deliberation, Parañaque City Representative Brian Yamsuan stated on Wednesday.

The proposed P7.2 trillion budget for fiscal year 2027 currently contains P107 billion dedicated to flood control projects. Yamsuan's remarks indicate that lawmakers will consider adjustments to this allocation based on evolving circumstances and needs identified during the budget review process.

The flexibility signaled by Yamsuan suggests that Congress recognizes the importance of flood mitigation infrastructure and is willing to reassess funding priorities to address critical infrastructure gaps. Such adjustments would typically undergo formal legislative procedures and require sufficient justification from concerned departments and agencies.
