Congress 'vote theft' claims groundless, says Andhra Pradesh minister

Andhra Pradesh Minister Satya Kumar Yadav on Tuesday rejected claims of 'vote theft' levelled by the Congress, contending that the allegations lack documentary backing and appear designed to create unfounded doubts about the integrity of the electoral process.

Yadav questioned the factual basis for the opposition party's assertions, suggesting that such claims without supporting evidence amount to an attempt to erode voter confidence in the country's democratic institutions. The minister argued that established institutional mechanisms exist for parties to formally lodge concerns about electoral matters.

"Political parties have prescribed channels available to raise objections if they harbour genuine concerns," Yadav said, pointing to procedures including the submission of Form 7 for contesting entries in electoral rolls. He implied that the Congress should utilise these legitimate avenues rather than making public allegations unsupported by documentation.

The minister's statement underscores the government's position that electoral challenges should be addressed through formal procedures rather than public discourse. The remarks come amid broader scrutiny of electoral practices and ongoing debates between political parties over the credibility of India's voting mechanisms and voter registration processes.
