The project carries a total cost of Rs. 600 million and is being funded through a grant provided by the Government of India. This financial backing underscores the ongoing healthcare cooperation between Sri Lanka and India in strengthening medical infrastructure across the country.
When completed, the Accident and Emergency Unit is expected to be equipped with comprehensive facilities to handle emergency medical cases. The new unit will serve the residents of Mannar district and surrounding areas, improving access to critical emergency care services.
The development comes as part of broader efforts to upgrade healthcare infrastructure in the North-Central Province.
