The Consumer Affairs Authority (CAA) has completed over 1,000 raids as part of a special enforcement programme focused on the electronics and electrical goods market across Sri Lanka.
The operation, which commenced its main phase on August 25, 2026, combines targeted raids with supply-chain investigations to strengthen consumer protection. The CAA said the initiative is designed to ensure that electrical and electronic goods available to consumers are safe, compliant with applicable standards, and legally marketed throughout the island.
The enforcement drive represents a coordinated effort to address compliance issues within the sector and protect consumers from substandard or non-compliant products. Authorities have been examining retail outlets, distributors, and supply chains to verify that goods meet required safety specifications and regulatory requirements.
The CAA stated that the special programme reflects its commitment to safeguarding consumer interests while promoting fair competition in the electronics market. The enforcement action targets both retail-level violations and upstream supply-chain irregularities that could affect product quality and consumer safety.
