A cook from San Fernando City, La Union, lost his life in a vehicular collision early Friday morning in Pangasinan's Calasiao municipality. The 34-year-old victim was riding a motorcycle northbound along the national highway in Barangay Pagdaraoan when his vehicle struck a pickup truck traveling in the opposite direction.
The pickup truck was operated by a 51-year-old fish vendor from Bacnotan town, according to initial reports. The circumstances surrounding the collision are under investigation by local traffic authorities.
The incident marks another fatal road accident in the region, as the Ilocos and Pangasinan areas continue to see regular traffic-related deaths. Authorities have not yet disclosed additional details regarding possible violations or contributing factors to the crash.
