Cooperative supermarket networks across India are rolling out a new initiative to provide affordable grocery bundles as households face persistent inflation in food prices. The packets, priced at ₹200 each, will contain 10 essential food commodities that form the backbone of Indian cooking and daily nutrition.
The bundle will include chana dal, moong dal, red chillies, dhaniya, garlic, and saunf, along with four additional staple items. These ingredients represent some of the most frequently purchased items in Indian kitchens and form the base for numerous regional cuisines across the country.
The initiative aims to make nutritious staples more accessible to middle and lower-income households by offering them in pre-packaged, value-oriented bundles. By combining frequently used ingredients, the cooperative supermarkets hope to reduce individual purchasing costs while ensuring consumers have essential spices and pulses on hand.
Cooperative retail chains have positioned this move as part of their broader effort to support affordable food access across urban and semi-urban areas. The fixed-price packets are expected to simplify shopping for budget-conscious families while stabilizing demand for essential commodities across the supply chain.
