Cordillera dam releases pose no flood risk to Pangasinan
Water being released from two Benguet dams will not threaten communities downstream in Pangasinan, local irrigation officials said. The releases are being managed through the San Roque Dam system, which continues to regulate flows in the region.

LINGAYEN, PANGASINAN — The Pangasinan Irrigation Management Office has moved to reassure residents over water releases from Ambuklao and Binga Dams in Benguet province, stating there is no flood threat to the region. Engineer John Molano, division manager of the irrigation office, said water flowing from the two Cordillera dams is being channeled into the San Roque Dam in San Manuel town, which continues to manage downstream water levels effectively.
The San Roque facility serves as a critical control point for managing water flows from upstream sources in the Cordillera region. By regulating inflows from Ambuklao and Binga, the dam system prevents sudden surges that could pose risks to communities and agricultural areas downstream in Pangasinan.
The reassurance comes as the dams maintain regular water release operations. Molano emphasized that current protocols ensure controlled distribution of water resources across the region while maintaining safety standards for residents and irrigation users in affected areas.
Local authorities will continue monitoring water levels and releases from the dam system to ensure ongoing safety and efficient water management for the region's agricultural sector.
