Coroner examines Hougang fire that killed family of three
A Singapore coroner's inquiry has heard that the family of three who died in a January 2025 fire in a Hougang Housing and Development Board unit had declined assistance from HDB regarding hoarding concerns in their home.

The fatal fire occurred at Block 971 Hougang Street 91 in January this year. During the coroner's inquiry, it emerged that the family had rejected offers of help from HDB officials who had raised concerns about the accumulation of items in the unit.
