Corruption watchdog seizes records from Speaker's residence
Sri Lanka's anti-corruption commission has obtained documents related to staff at Speaker Jagath Wickramaratne's official residence as part of a bribery investigation. Multiple parliamentary officials have already provided statements to investigators.

The Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) has assumed custody of all documents pertaining to employees working at the Speaker's official residence, following a complaint filed against Speaker Jagath Wickramaratne.
The investigation has progressed with statements recorded from Parliament's Deputy Director of Administration, the Assistant Director of Finance, and a Transport Officer attached to the Speaker's office. Additional personnel are expected to provide statements as the probe continues.
The seizure of residence-related documentation marks an expansion of CIABOC's inquiry into the Speaker's official activities and expenditures. The commission typically pursues such documentary evidence to establish patterns of potential financial irregularities or misconduct.
No charges have been filed at this stage. The investigation remains ongoing as CIABOC examines the complaint and gathers evidence from parliamentary personnel and records.
