Counterfeit currency ring busted in Greater Noida, three arrested

Police in Greater Noida's Ecotech-1 area have uncovered a counterfeit currency racket, arresting three individuals and recovering 2,549 fake ₹100 notes valued at approximately ₹2.54 lakh. The operation was conducted jointly by local police and the Special Operations Group (SOG).

According to investigators, the accused were preparing to circulate the counterfeit notes in local markets. Each fake note cost approximately ₹15 to produce, representing a substantial profit margin for the counterfeit operation.

Police stated that the suspects acquired their counterfeiting skills by watching instructional videos on Instagram Reels. The gang had been engaged in the illegal activity for roughly three months before being apprehended. Officials have launched further investigations to determine whether the network extended beyond the three arrested individuals and to identify potential distribution channels.
