Law enforcement officials have cracked down on a major counterfeit electronics operation in Ahmedabad's Geetamandira mobile market, leading to the arrest of 14 traders involved in the illegal trade. The Local Crime Branch (LCB) recovered 1,034 counterfeit mobile phones and laptops, along with other electronic goods, in raids conducted across the market.
The seized goods are estimated to be worth Rs 7.07 lakh. The operation targeted dealers who were openly selling fake smartphones and computing devices to unsuspecting customers across the region. Authorities have registered formal cases against all 14 traders implicated in the scheme.
The Geetamandira mobile market, one of Ahmedabad's key electronics trading hubs, has long been a focal point for such illicit activities. This latest operation underscores ongoing efforts by law enforcement to combat the growing menace of counterfeit electronics in retail markets. Officials say the investigation is continuing to identify additional suppliers and distributors involved in the network.
