Couple dies in Maguindanao del Sur LPG store fire
A businessman and his pregnant wife perished when fire consumed their liquefied petroleum gas merchandise store in a public market in Shariff Aguak, Maguindanao del Sur on Wednesday evening.

The fire swept through the couple's LPG tank retail outlet in the Shariff Aguak public market at approximately 11:30 p.m., with the blaze spreading rapidly through the structure before firefighters could contain it.
Fire Marshal Narisa Bansil of the Shariff Aguak Fire Department said investigators have yet to determine the exact cause of the fire. The speed at which flames engulfed the merchandise store, which stocked pressurized gas cylinders, hindered rescue efforts and prevented the couple from escaping the premises.
The incident marks another deadly fire in the Bangsamoro region, where combustible materials and limited emergency response infrastructure have contributed to periodic deadly blazes in commercial establishments.
Local authorities have launched a formal investigation into the circumstances surrounding the fire. The couple's remains were turned over to family members for funeral arrangements.
