A family in Mainpuri district, Uttar Pradesh, faced an unimaginable loss when both husband and wife died within a span of four hours on the same day. Mukesh Kumar, 48, died first after contracting dengue fever while undergoing treatment at a hospital in Agra. His wife, Deepa, 42, succumbed to the same illness approximately four hours later at a different medical facility in the same city.
The couple had been receiving separate treatment at two different hospitals in Agra when their conditions deteriorated. Their family was devastated by the rapid succession of deaths, leaving relatives and community members in shock.
When the bodies of both Mukesh Kumar and Deepa were brought back to their village, the family decided to conduct their final rites together. In a poignant ceremony, both were cremated on a single funeral pyre, allowing the couple to remain together even in death.
The incident underscores the continued threat posed by dengue fever in the region and the importance of timely medical intervention in combating the mosquito-borne disease. Dengue cases have been a recurring health concern in several parts of Uttar Pradesh during monsoon and post-monsoon seasons.
