MANILA—The anti-graft court's Third Division approved Romualdez's request to sign the pre-trial order at the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology facility in Payatas, Quezon City, rather than appearing in person at the courtroom.

The accommodation allows the former congressional leader to handle the procedural requirement from his place of detention while maintaining compliance with court orders. Pre-trial orders are standard documents that outline the framework and schedule for legal proceedings.

Romualdez, who previously served as Speaker of the House of Representatives, has been detained at the Payatas jail facility. The Sandiganbayan's decision reflects flexibility in handling procedural matters for detained accused persons, provided substantive court proceedings can proceed appropriately.

The ruling underscores the court's authority to adjust logistical arrangements while preserving the integrity of legal proceedings. The case continues before the anti-graft tribunal's Third Division.
