Court doubles jail sentence for woman convicted in boyfriend's death
An appellate court has increased the prison term to 12 years for a woman convicted of fatally stabbing her boyfriend during a struggle at a hotel. The court found the original six-and-a-half-year sentence was insufficiently severe.

A regional appellate court has doubled the jail sentence imposed on a woman convicted of killing her boyfriend, ruling that the initial penalty did not adequately reflect the gravity of the offence.
The woman was 19 years old when the fatal stabbing occurred at a hotel following a dispute with her boyfriend. According to court records, the incident escalated after he made unwanted sexual advances, leading to a physical confrontation during which the fatal injury was sustained.
The appellate judges determined that a six-and-a-half-year sentence was too lenient given the circumstances of the case. The court issued a revised sentence of 12 years imprisonment, substantially increasing the time the woman must serve.
The case has drawn attention to issues surrounding consent and self-defence in domestic situations, though appellate judges focused their decision on sentencing proportionality rather than revisiting the underlying conviction. The woman is expected to serve the remainder of her extended sentence unless further legal appeals are filed.
