The Fort Magistrate's Court has directed the Criminal Investigation Department to apprehend Thilini Priyamali and bring her before the bench in connection with an investigation into alleged financial fraud. Priyamali, who heads the Thiko Group of Companies, faces accusations of defrauding numerous complainants of tens of millions of rupees through irregular business dealings.
The Magistrate's decision to issue the arrest warrant came after two individuals who had lodged complaints and were summoned to provide testimony failed to present themselves in court. The unexplained absence of these material witnesses prompted judicial intervention and the decision to compel Priyamali's attendance through arrest procedures.
The case represents the latest in a series of investigations into questionable financial schemes allegedly perpetrated through various business entities in the country. Authorities have intensified scrutiny of companies operating in sectors prone to investor complaints and unregulated fund management practices.
The CID is expected to execute the warrant and present Priyamali before the Fort Magistrate's Court for further proceedings. The court is likely to determine bail conditions and schedule subsequent hearing dates as the investigation progresses.
