Court of Appeal Judge Corea named Acting President during Abeysuriya's absence

Court of Appeal Judge Mayadunna Sri Mevan Anthony Edirimannasuriya Corea has been appointed to serve as Acting President of the Court of Appeal with immediate effect. The appointment was made by President Anura Kumara Dissanayake following a request from the incumbent President of the Court of Appeal, President's Counsel Nalin Rohantha Abeysuriya, who is scheduled to be overseas until 24th of this month.

Justice Corea will assume the administrative and ceremonial responsibilities of the office during Abeysuriya's temporary absence from the island. The appointment ensures continuity in the court's operations and decision-making processes during this period.

Abeysuriya, who has served as President of the Court of Appeal, is expected to resume his full duties upon his return to the country. Justice Corea's tenure as Acting President is therefore expected to be of limited duration pending Abeysuriya's return.
