KUALA LUMPUR — The Court of Appeal has allowed applications by Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor to introduce fresh evidence in her appeal against conviction in the solar graft case, granting her legal team additional grounds to challenge the lower court's ruling.
The decision, delivered on September 1, represents a procedural victory for the former prime minister's wife as she contests the conviction related to her involvement in a solar energy project that prosecutors alleged involved corrupt practices.
The approval to submit new evidence provides Rosmah's legal representatives with expanded scope to present arguments before the appellate court. Such allowances are typically granted when applicants can demonstrate the evidence was not previously available or could not have been obtained through reasonable diligence, and when the evidence appears relevant to the case.
Rosmah's appeal is among several legal proceedings stemming from investigations into alleged corruption during the previous government. The case has drawn significant public attention given her prominent position during her husband's tenure as Prime Minister.
