Court Orders GISBH to Pay RM5,000 Fine Over Delayed Appeal

The Court of Appeal has ordered GISBH to pay RM5,000 to the Attorney General's Chambers (AGC) as a consequence of submitting its appeal record beyond the stipulated deadline.

Despite the penalty, the appellate court has approved the application for an extension of time filed by the company's legal representatives, allowing the firm to proceed with its case.

The payment serves as a cost sanction commonly imposed in civil proceedings when parties fail to meet procedural timelines, though the extension grant permits GISBH to continue with its appeal.

This ruling underscores the court's approach of balancing procedural compliance with substantive justice, penalising the delay while ensuring the matter can still be heard on its merits.
