Court orders meaningless if anti-corruption body ignores them, magistrate warns
Colombo's Chief Magistrate has expressed frustration with the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption for allegedly disregarding judicial directives, questioning the purpose of issuing court orders if they are not followed.

Chief Magistrate Asanga S. Bodaragama raised concerns about the CIABOC's apparent failure to comply with orders issued by the court during recent proceedings in Colombo. The magistrate pointed out the fundamental contradiction in the judicial system when law enforcement bodies do not adhere to court-issued directives.
"If CIABOC does not act in accordance with the orders issued by the court, there is no point in the court issuing orders," Bodaragama stated, highlighting the significance of institutional compliance with judicial rulings.
The comments underscore ongoing tensions between the judiciary and anti-corruption authorities regarding the implementation of court decisions.
