Colombo Chief Magistrate Pasan Amarasena issued summons on Friday directing the 10-member medical board treating former State Intelligence Service Director Suresh Sallay and the Director of Colombo National Hospital to appear before court on October 6.

The court order came after the Criminal Investigation Department submitted a motion highlighting concerns about the medical treatment period for the former intelligence official. Details regarding the specific nature of the CID's concerns were not immediately disclosed.

The summons marks the latest development in a case that has drawn scrutiny to both the medical care provided to the high-ranking former official and the oversight mechanisms governing such treatment.

The October 6 court date will require the medical board members to address questions relating to their treatment protocols and care decisions. The appearance of the Colombo National Hospital director suggests the proceedings may examine institutional policies and procedures alongside individual clinical decisions.

The case underscores ongoing judicial oversight of medical treatment matters involving prominent state officials and the role of investigative agencies in monitoring such cases.
