Court orders release of CJP activists detained at Jantar Mantar

A Sessions Court in New Delhi has directed the release of Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka, prominent leaders of the Congress for Justice Party (CJP), following their detention at Jantar Mantar. The two activists were arrested on October 14 after allegedly entering the denotified protest site and breaching peace bond conditions imposed on them.

The court's order comes after the activists completed their five-day judicial custody period. According to law enforcement, Das and Ranka were taken into custody for violating the terms of existing peace bonds and for their presence at Jantar Mantar, an area that had been denotified for public protests.

Jantar Mantar, located in central Delhi, has long been a focal point for demonstrations and political activism. Authorities have periodically placed restrictions on assembly at the site to maintain public order, with violators subject to legal action under breach of peace bond provisions.

The CJP has been vocal on various social and political issues. The release of Das and Ranka comes amid ongoing legal proceedings related to the incident. It remains unclear whether additional charges may be pursued against the activists.
