Court permits detained senator temporary leave for medical examination

MANILA — The Sandiganbayan Fifth Division, which is presiding over Sen. Jinggoy Estrada's plunder case, has authorized the detained senator to temporarily leave his detention facility for medical purposes. The court granted Estrada permission for up to four hours to undergo an X-ray examination of his knee, following his motion filed on August 18.
Estrada, who faces charges related to the Priority Development Assistance Fund scam, had petitioned the anti-graft court for the temporary medical leave. The court's approval allows him to obtain the diagnostic imaging while maintaining custody protocols.
