Court postpones luxury vehicle case against former minister Fernando
The Colombo Magistrate's Court has adjourned proceedings in a case involving former Minister Johnston Fernando over alleged illegal possession of a luxury vehicle. The matter has been scheduled for hearing on October 28.

Colombo Fort Magistrate Pasan Amarasena ordered the adjournment during proceedings on September 16, pushing the case into the final quarter of the year. Fernando, who was released on bail in connection with the matter, did not appear to face immediate legal developments on the date of the hearing.
The case centres on allegations relating to the unlawful possession of a high-value vehicle, a matter that has attracted public attention given Fernando's former position in government. The court's decision to postpone the hearing allows for further investigation and preparation of legal arguments by both the prosecution and defence teams.
With the matter now scheduled for late October, the extended timeline provides opportunity for completion of preliminary investigations before substantive court proceedings resume. Fernando's bail conditions remain in effect during the interim period.
