The Court of Appeal hearing into the Pulau Batu Puteh matter was postponed during proceedings in Putrajaya on Monday, as Dr Mahathir's legal team moved to incorporate an RCI report into their case documentation.
The adjournment follows a submission by the former prime minister's lawyers, who argued that the Royal Commission of Inquiry findings constitute material evidence relevant to the ongoing appeal. The court granted the request to adjourn the proceedings to allow adequate time for consideration of the request and preparation of necessary documentation.
Pulau Batu Puteh, a small island situated between Malaysia and Singapore, has been the subject of longstanding disputes and legal proceedings. The appeal represents a significant development in ongoing efforts to resolve contentious matters related to the territory.
The exact date for the resumption of the court hearing has not yet been determined. The case is expected to continue once the court has processed the request to include the RCI report and both legal teams have completed their respective preparations.
