Court releases Yoshitha Rajapaksa's great-aunt from money laundering case

The Colombo High Court yesterday granted the release of Daisy Forrest from an ongoing money laundering case after considering submissions that she was not in a fit mental condition to proceed with trial proceedings.

Forrest, the great-aunt of Yoshitha Rajapaksa, had been named as a co-accused in the investigation. The court's decision followed legal arguments presented regarding her capacity to stand trial.

Meanwhile, Yoshitha Rajapaksa, who remains a party to the case, appeared before the court and pleaded not guilty to the charges levelled against her. The proceedings continue as the legal matter progresses through the judicial system.

The case marks another development in investigations that have drawn public attention in recent months. Further court dates are expected as the matter continues.
