Colombo Magistrate Pasan Amarasena ordered the medical practitioners to appear before the court on Wednesday, as part of proceedings related to Sallay's detention and ongoing treatment at the National Hospital.
The summons were issued to all ten members of the medical board responsible for monitoring the health and treatment of the retired military intelligence official. The court's directive requires their presence to provide information regarding Sallay's medical condition and care.
Sallay, a retired Major General who previously headed the State Intelligence Service, remains in custody while receiving medical attention at the National Hospital. The court's decision to call the attending physicians suggests judicial oversight of medical care provided to detainees in state custody.
The appearance of the medical board members before the court represents standard legal procedure in cases involving detained individuals receiving hospital treatment. Such measures are typically employed to ensure transparency and proper documentation of healthcare provided to persons held in state detention.
