A special court will convene on Friday to hear submissions in a case related to alleged training provided to members of ethnic armed groups operating from Myanmar, according to case documents reviewed by the National Investigation Agency.
The NIA has accused seven individuals of imparting tactical and military instruction to members of various Myanmar-based ethnic armed organizations. The agency contends that such activities violated domestic laws governing unlawful associations and cross-border militant coordination.
The proceedings Friday will address key legal questions regarding the status of at least one accused in the matter. The outcome may determine whether certain individuals remain subject to Indian jurisdiction or face other consequences under applicable law.
Ethnic armed groups operating in Myanmar's border regions have been a longstanding concern for Indian security agencies. The case represents efforts by law enforcement to counter alleged unauthorized military activities and unauthorized coordination with foreign militant organizations.
The special court's decision is expected to clarify the legal standing of the accused and set the direction for the ongoing investigation into the allegations.
