Court urged to compel 1MDB ex-CEO to answer questions instead of refusing comment
A senior lawyer has asked the court to order former 1Malaysia Development Berhad chief executive Shahrol Azral Ibrahim Halmi to provide substantive answers during cross-examination, rather than repeatedly declining to comment.

Senior Counsel GK Ganesan raised the issue during proceedings, arguing that the former 1MDB CEO cannot simply refuse to answer questions 15 times by stating "no comment" while undergoing cross-examination. Ganesan requested that the court issue a directive compelling Shahrol to provide proper responses to the questions posed to him. The lawyer contended that such repeated refusals to answer undermined the examination process and the administration of justice. Shahrol's testimony forms part of ongoing legal proceedings related to the controversial state fund. The court was expected to consider Ganesan's request as the cross-examination continued.
