CPC raises petrol prices as fuel costs climb across island

The Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) increased fuel prices from midnight on 30th, with Octane 92 petrol climbing by Rs. 15 per litre to reach Rs. 414. The revised pricing reflects broader pressures on fuel costs affecting the island's petroleum sector.

Octane 95 petrol pricing remained static at Rs. 475 per litre under the latest adjustment, while Super Diesel also saw modifications to its retail price. The CPC regularly reviews fuel pricing in response to international market fluctuations and foreign exchange considerations.

The price adjustments will affect consumers across the country as transport operators, businesses and households adjust to the increased fuel costs. The CPC's pricing mechanism typically factors in crude oil prices, refining costs and currency movements when determining domestic fuel rates.

Motoring associations and transport operators have previously expressed concerns about fuel price volatility and its cascading impact on logistics and transportation expenses. The latest adjustment continues a pattern of periodic price revisions the state petroleum corporation implements to align domestic rates with global market conditions.
