CSK appoints Albie Morkel as assistant coach, Mohit Sharma as bowling mentor

Chennai Super Kings announced the appointments on Thursday as part of restructuring its technical support staff ahead of the new Indian Premier League campaign. Morkel, a former South African all-rounder with extensive IPL experience, will work alongside Zaheer Khan in guiding the four-time IPL champions through the season.

Morkel brings considerable expertise having played 117 international matches for South Africa across formats and featured in multiple IPL seasons. His appointment adds depth to CSK's coaching structure, providing valuable insights on player management and match strategy alongside Khan's captaincy and technical knowledge.

Mohit Sharma's inclusion as bowling coach represents a significant addition to the franchise's support system. The right-arm pacer, who has represented India and played prominently in the IPL, brings practical experience in developing bowling units and mentoring pace bowlers—a critical component of CSK's playing strategy.

The coaching appointments reflect CSK's commitment to maintaining competitive standards following leadership changes. The franchise has consistently emphasized building a strong support system to complement on-field performance, and these additions are expected to enhance the team's preparation and execution during the tournament.
