The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) announced that Culiat Bridge II along Congressional Avenue in Quezon City will resume service for buses beginning Saturday, November 7. Public Works and Highways Secretary Giovanni Lopez, in his newly appointed role, authorized the reopening at 6 a.m. on Saturday morning.
The bridge had been closed to bus traffic pending completion of necessary inspections and maintenance work. The clearance for bus operations represents a key milestone in efforts to restore full transportation capacity along the major commuter corridor in the capital region.
The reopening is expected to provide relief to public transport services that have been rerouted around the area during the closure. Commuters and bus operators plying the Congressional Avenue route have faced delays as alternative paths became congested during the bridge's unavailability.
The DPWH did not specify whether additional vehicle classifications would gain access to the bridge beyond buses, or whether further phases of reopening were planned.
