MANILA — The Bureau of Customs (BOC) has removed from duty the father of the alleged gunman in a shooting at Ateneo de Zamboanga University Junior High School, according to BOC Commissioner Ariel Nepomuceno.

Nepomuceno confirmed in a phone interview that the official, who held the position of district commander at the Port of Zamboanga, was relieved of his duties in connection with the incident.

The shooting at the Ateneo de Zamboanga facility prompted the administrative action against the senior Customs official. Details regarding the circumstances of the school incident and the relief order remain limited.

The BOC's decision underscores the agency's response to the incident and reflects broader scrutiny of officials whose family members are involved in criminal matters.
