Customs K9 unit dogs take centre stage at Putrajaya National Day parade
Two elite sniffer dogs from Malaysia's Customs department joined military canines in marching contingents at the National Day celebration in Putrajaya, showcasing the role of working dogs in border security.

PUTRAJAYA — Goku and Cafrey, two seasoned drug detection dogs from the Royal Malaysian Customs Department, stepped out of their usual posts at border checkpoints to participate in the National Day parade here on August 31.
The canines, accustomed to tracking narcotics and contraband at Malaysia's key entry points, marched alongside military K9 units in the ceremonial procession, giving Malaysians a rare glimpse of the animals that play a crucial role in the nation's security operations.
Their inclusion in the parade highlighted the contribution of working dogs across different government agencies in maintaining national security. Both dogs have established track records in detecting illicit substances at airports, seaports and land borders throughout the country.
The appearance underscored Malaysia's commitment to recognising the often-overlooked efforts of canine units in law enforcement and military operations. The dogs' participation served as a public acknowledgment of their service to the nation during a time of national celebration.
