District administration officials have mobilized comprehensive disaster management operations ahead of Cyclone Arnab's expected impact on Visakhapatnam. Relief infrastructure has been established to shelter approximately 31,405 people who may require evacuation from affected areas. The precautionary measure underscores the scale of potential disruption across the vulnerable coastal region.
The administration has identified 37 villages spanning the district as particularly at risk, with roughly 10,176 households in these settlements potentially facing displacement. The relief camps, totaling 54 facilities, have been strategically positioned to provide emergency accommodation, food, and basic amenities to displaced persons during and after the cyclone's passage.
To ensure coordinated response across the district's administrative divisions, special officers have been appointed to oversee relief operations in all 11 mandals. These designated officials will supervise evacuation procedures, coordinate resource distribution, and maintain communication channels between ground-level response teams and district headquarters.
Authorities have also begun pre-positioning essential supplies including food stocks, potable water, and medical provisions at designated relief centers. Early warning dissemination systems have been activated to alert residents in vulnerable communities, allowing families time to arrange evacuation if necessary.
