Cyclone Arnab will track northwest after making landfall near Yanam on the Andhra Pradesh coast, meteorological officials said. The system is projected to move through Andhra Pradesh and Telangana before entering Chhattisgarh, eventually reaching the Lucknow-Gorakhpur region of Uttar Pradesh where it will gradually weaken.
The cyclone's trajectory will expose multiple states to heavy precipitation as the system progresses inland. Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, lying closest to the landfall zone, are expected to experience the most intense rainfall and wind activity in the immediate aftermath.
As Arnab moves deeper into central India through Chhattisgarh, its intensity will diminish, though significant rainfall will persist. By the time the system reaches the Lucknow-Gorakhpur belt in eastern Uttar Pradesh, it will have weakened substantially but will still produce moderate to heavy showers across the region.
Weather monitoring agencies are tracking the system closely to provide updated forecasts and advisories to residents and authorities across the affected states.
