Cyclone Arnab is set to make landfall along the Andhra Pradesh coast between Bapatla and Visakhapatnam, prompting authorities to issue comprehensive travel advisories across the region. The India Meteorological Department has forecasted sustained winds of 115-125 kilometres per hour, with gusts potentially reaching 140 kmph at the point of landfall.
Airlines have begun cancelling flights operating into and out of affected areas, with more cancellations expected as the cyclone approaches. Rail networks in the region are also preparing for significant disruptions, with train services likely to be delayed or suspended to ensure passenger safety during the severe weather conditions.
State authorities have advised residents and travellers to avoid non-essential movement during the cyclone's passage. The severe weather is expected to impact normal life across coastal and nearby districts, with authorities positioning rescue and relief teams in advance.
The cyclone's trajectory and intensity have prompted transport operators to implement contingency plans and issue advance notice to passengers regarding potential service disruptions. Weather updates are being issued regularly as the system continues to move towards the coast.
