Andhra Pradesh is grappling with the intensifying impact of Severe Cyclonic Storm Murasu, which continues to pound several districts across the state with relentless precipitation. The A.P. State Disaster Management Authority has flagged six districts—Polavaram, Kakinada, NTR, Krishna, Bapatla, and Palnadu—as high-risk zones for very heavy rainfall in the coming hours.
Bapatla district is currently experiencing the brunt of the cyclone's fury, with extremely heavy downpours causing waterlogging and threatening to trigger flash floods across low-lying areas. The district administration has intensified monitoring of vulnerable zones and activated emergency response teams to assist affected residents.
The disaster management authority emphasised that the cyclonic system remains potent and is unlikely to weaken significantly in the immediate term. This assessment has prompted officials to maintain heightened vigilance and ensure that evacuation procedures remain in place for communities in flood-prone regions.
Authorities have urged residents in the affected districts to avoid venturing out unnecessarily and to heed all official advisories. Emergency helplines have been activated, and rescue personnel have been deployed to respond swiftly to distress calls as Murasu's impact continues to unfold across Andhra Pradesh.
